Ashgabat, July 27, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan has strongly condemned the reported attack on a sea-going vessel in the waters of the Caspian Sea, describing such actions as unacceptable and contrary to the region’s longstanding principles of peace and cooperation.
In an official statement issued on Saturday, the ministry referred to international media reports published on 25 July 2026 concerning the alleged attack on a vessel operating in the Caspian Sea.
The ministry emphasized that Turkmenistan considers any act threatening security and stability in the Caspian Sea to be inadmissible, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the region as a zone of peace and constructive cooperation.
Highlighting its position as a Caspian littoral state and a country with a status of permanent neutrality recognized by the United Nations, Turkmenistan stressed that the Caspian Sea should remain “a sea of peace, harmony, and good-neighborliness.”
The statement underscored Turkmenistan’s continued support for preserving regional stability and strengthening cooperation among the Caspian coastal states in accordance with the principles of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.
