Hanoi, September 2, 2026 – The Europe Today: Leaders from across the world have extended congratulatory messages to Vietnamese leaders and people on the occasion of Vietnam’s 81st National Day, reaffirming their appreciation for the country’s achievements and expressing support for stronger bilateral relations.
Leaders of Laos, China, Cambodia, Russia, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Mongolia, the United States, Japan, France and the United Kingdom conveyed their greetings to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President Tô Lâm, Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng and National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn.
Laotian leaders praised Vietnam’s major achievements over the past 81 years, particularly during the four decades of Đổi mới (renewal), highlighting the country’s political stability, economic growth, improved living standards and growing international standing. They reaffirmed Laos’ commitment to working closely with Vietnam to preserve and further strengthen the two countries’ great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji also extended congratulations to their Vietnamese counterparts. Chinese leaders commended Vietnam’s stable and dynamic socio-economic development and its growing regional and international influence.
They expressed confidence that Vietnam, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, will successfully achieve the goals set by its 14th National Party Congress. China reaffirmed that Vietnam remains a priority in its neighbourhood diplomacy and pledged to further advance the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
Cambodian leaders and the Central Committee of the Cambodian People’s Party similarly congratulated Vietnam on its National Day, praising its socio-economic progress and enhanced international standing. They expressed confidence that Vietnam would achieve its development objectives, including becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045.
Cambodia reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the longstanding ties between the two countries based on good-neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability, while promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko and State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin conveyed greetings to Vietnamese leaders. They highlighted Vietnam’s impressive socio-economic achievements and its increasing role on the international stage.
Russian leaders noted the positive development of the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and expressed their readiness to continue expanding bilateral cooperation and coordinating on regional and international issues in the interests of both countries.
Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev also sent congratulations to Tô Lâm.
DPRK leader Kim Jong Un and Premier Pak Thae Song extended greetings to Vietnamese leaders and people, expressing confidence that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the DPRK would continue to deepen and expand in accordance with agreements reached by their senior leaders.
Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, Prime Minister Nyam-Osor Uchral and Parliament Chairman Sandag Byambatsogt congratulated Vietnam on its achievements under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. They reaffirmed Mongolia’s commitment to implementing agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders and further strengthening the Mongolia-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership.
US President Donald Trump also sent a congratulatory message to Tô Lâm and the Vietnamese people. He described Vietnam’s independence as a testament to the strength and resilience of its people and highlighted the progress achieved under the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
President Trump emphasized the importance the United States attaches to its relationship with Vietnam and to their shared commitment to peace, prosperity and stability in the Indo-Pacific. He also expressed support for continued cooperation on shared prosperity and security.
Emperor Naruhito of Japan conveyed warm congratulations and sincere best wishes to Tô Lâm, wishing continued happiness for the Vietnamese leader and prosperity for the Vietnamese people.
French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Tô Lâm and welcomed the development of relations based on trust and friendship through regular exchanges. He highlighted the shared commitment of France and Vietnam, as well as the European Union and ASEAN, to multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
King Charles III of the United Kingdom also extended congratulations, noting that Vietnam’s National Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the enduring friendship between the two countries. He expressed appreciation for bilateral ties and a commitment to strengthening cooperation, particularly in addressing shared challenges such as climate change and conservation of the natural environment.
Foreign ministers and senior officials from Laos, China, Cambodia, Russia, the DPRK, Mongolia and France also sent congratulatory messages to Vietnamese Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung, further underscoring the broad international support for Vietnam’s National Day and the continued strengthening of its diplomatic partnerships.
