Moscow, September 25, 2026 — The Europe Today: The Russian government has approved a draft federal budget for 2027 and the planning period of 2028–2029, with the document set to be submitted to the State Duma for consideration, the Cabinet’s press service said.
The draft law was approved at a government meeting on September 24, according to the statement.
The government identified fulfillment of social obligations, support for families with children, defense and security, assistance to participants in the special military operation and their families, and the achievement of national development goals as key priorities of the proposed budget.
The document also places emphasis on advancing Russia’s technological leadership, reflecting the government’s stated focus on strengthening the country’s technological capabilities and supporting long-term national development objectives.
Following government approval, the draft federal budget will be submitted to the State Duma, the lower house of Russia’s Federal Assembly, for legislative consideration.
The Russian government has similarly identified social commitments, defense and security, and national development objectives as central priorities in its recent multi-year budget planning.
