Bandar Seri Begawan,August 14, 2024, The Europe Today: Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, held a bilateral meeting today with the Minister of Health of Brunei Darussalam, Dato Dr. Isham Jaafar, at the Ministry of Health in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.
During the meeting, both leaders engaged in discussions on advancing ASEAN’s Community building activities with a focus on achieving the vision of a healthy, caring, and sustainable ASEAN. Key topics included enhancing regional cooperation in mental health and addressing noncommunicable diseases, which are increasingly recognized as critical public health challenges across the ASEAN region.
Dr. Kao Kim Hourn emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among ASEAN member states to promote health and well-being, particularly in areas that require collective action and shared resources. Minister Dato Dr. Isham Jaafar reaffirmed Brunei Darussalam’s commitment to supporting these initiatives, highlighting the nation’s ongoing efforts to improve public health infrastructure and services.
