Belarusian President Honors Farmers at Dazhynki 2024 Harvest Festival in Korma

Korma, October 12, 2024 – The Europe Today: Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko attended the Dazhynki 2024 harvest festival in Korma, Gomel Oblast, where he honored outstanding farmers for their contributions during the harvest season. The Dazhynki festival, a national celebration of the harvest, brought together agricultural workers from across the region to recognize their hard work and dedication.

Speaking at the ceremony, President Lukashenko expressed his deep gratitude to the farmers for their resilience and perseverance, despite the challenges they face in their profession. “The busiest time for a farmer is spring and summer, and we always celebrate Dazhynki under the rays of the autumn sun. Farmers are no strangers to weather changes. A deep gratitude to you for your work, for your patience and the ability to work despite all adversities and circumstances that can break some. But not you,” he said.

In recognition of their exceptional service, President Lukashenko presented several awards. The prestigious Order of Honor was conferred on Aleksandr Starotitorov, a driver from the Kalininsky enterprise in Dobrush District. Other honorees included Aleksandr Zabiran, a driver at the Kholmech agricultural complex in Rechitsa District, and Mikhail Minenkov, a tractor driver from the Otor company in Chechersk District, both of whom received the Medal for Labor Merits. Nikolai Chigorevsky, a tractor driver for the Znamya Rodiny company in Gomel District, was also awarded the same distinction.

Additionally, the honorary title of “Honored Worker of Agriculture of the Republic of Belarus” was bestowed upon Galina Tribunakh, director of the Zvezda company in Chechersk District. The president’s commendation letters were given to several notable individuals, including Svetlana Atroshchenko, a leading process engineer at the Polesie production site of the Milkavita company, and Elena Volkova, a tractor driver from the Sudkovo company in Khoiniki District. The commendations extended to Raisa Degtyareva, an operator at the Zhlobin Meat Processing Plant, and Svetlana Zhoglo, a milking machine operator at the Put Ilyicha company in Lelchitsy District.

Further recipients included Tamara Karavitskaya, chief zootechnician-breeder of the Tikhinichi company in Rogachev District, Nina Pishchik, chief zootechnician of the agricultural cooperative 50 Let Oktyabrya in Rechitsa District, and Vladimir Shakhnitsky, a truck driver from the Imeni Zhukova company in Bragin District. A team from the Polrdir-Agroinvest agricultural unitary enterprise in Petrikov District also received a commendation letter for their contributions.

Following the awards ceremony, President Lukashenko was presented with a symbolic festive loaf of bread, representing the harvest efforts of farmers from across Gomel Oblast.

The Dazhynki festival remains a significant tradition in Belarus, highlighting the importance of agriculture in the nation’s economy and honoring the hard work of its farming communities.
