Astana, November 7, 2024 – The Europe Today: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Astana on a two-day working visit, where he will hold discussions with Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu. Lavrov’s visit includes meetings on key bilateral and regional issues and a planned engagement with faculty and students at Astana University.
According to Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, the talks in Kazakhstan will include preparations for an upcoming state visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan. Both nations aim to strengthen cooperation on several fronts, including the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
Discussions will also cover the broader bilateral agenda and pressing international issues of mutual interest, underscoring the strong ties between the neighboring countries within multiple regional integration frameworks.
