Kuala Lumpur, December 4, 2024 – The Europe Today: The Dewan Rakyat will address crucial issues today, including preparations for the 2027 South East Asian (SEA) Games and the upgrading of the Malaysia-Indonesia border in Sarawak, according to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s official website.
During the oral question session, Roy Angau Gingkoi (GPS-Lubok Antu) will ask the Youth and Sports Minister about plans to upgrade stadiums, sports facilities, and athlete villages throughout Sarawak. These efforts aim to ensure a successful hosting of the 2027 SEA Games in the state.
Following this, Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem (GPS-Serian) will query the Economic Affairs Minister on the utilization of the RM1 billion allocation announced by the Prime Minister for upgrading border areas between Malaysia and Indonesia in Sarawak.
Mental health issues among students will also be on the agenda, with Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (PH-Ledang) seeking details from the Health Minister on mental health statistics involving school and higher education students, as well as evidence-based policies adopted to address the issue.
Additionally, Nordin Ahmad Ismail (PN-Lumut) will ask the Communications Minister whether there are initiatives to encourage and reward social media influencers producing positive and beneficial content, acknowledging the growing popularity of influencing as a career among Malaysian youth.
After the oral question session, the Dewan Rakyat will proceed with the second reading of several significant bills, including the Finance Bill 2024, the Measures for the Collection, Administration and Enforcement of Tax Bill 2024, and the Labuan Business Activity Tax (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2024.
The ongoing Dewan Rakyat session, which began on October 14, is scheduled to run until December 12, spanning 35 days of parliamentary deliberations on national matters.
