Erdogan Reaffirms Support for Palestine, Rejects U.S. Proposals on Gaza

Istanbul, February 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that no external force can displace the people of Gaza from their homeland, asserting that Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem rightfully belong to the Palestinian people.

“No one has the power to remove the people of Gaza from their eternal homeland, which has existed for thousands of years. Palestine, including Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, belongs to the Palestinians,” Erdogan stated on Sunday in Istanbul before departing for Malaysia.

The Turkish president dismissed recent proposals from the U.S. administration regarding Gaza, calling them unworthy of discussion and attributing them to pressure from the Israeli government. His remarks referenced reported U.S. considerations of relocating Palestinians, a proposal Erdogan categorically rejected.

Erdogan also commended Hamas for upholding its commitments in ongoing prisoner exchanges with Israel, despite what he described as Israeli efforts to hinder the process.

Turning to Syria, Erdogan condemned the Assad regime, citing the discovery of mass graves as evidence of atrocities. “As mass graves are uncovered in different parts of Syria, the bloody face of the Assad regime is being exposed,” he remarked.

Expressing optimism about Syria’s future, Erdogan voiced support for President Ahmed Alsharaa, suggesting that under his leadership, stability could soon be restored. He further asserted that there is no place for terrorist organizations in Syria and affirmed his belief that Alsharaa would take decisive action against such groups.

Erdogan’s remarks come amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, as Türkiye continues to assert its stance on key regional issues.
