Ashgabat, May 15, 2025 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan reaffirmed its commitment to deepening international cooperation in the oil and gas sector during a series of high-level meetings held Wednesday at the Garagum Hotel in Ashgabat, according to official Turkmen media.
The meetings brought together senior executives from Turkmenistan’s state energy concerns Turkmengaz and Turkmennebit, alongside visiting delegations from Malaysia’s Petronas and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), reflecting the country’s strategic focus on expanding global energy partnerships.
Turkmen officials held in-depth discussions with top representatives of Petronas, a long-standing partner in Turkmenistan’s energy development. The talks reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation and explored further opportunities for collaboration in the oil and gas sector.
Separate talks were also conducted with the ADNOC delegation, during which both sides discussed the present dynamics of energy cooperation and outlined promising areas for future joint efforts. The UAE side expressed strong interest in enhancing multifaceted ties, highlighting Turkmenistan’s political stability and steadfast adherence to international obligations.
Later in the day, a broader international session was convened, featuring UAE energy officials, Petronas executives, and Turkmenistan’s energy leadership. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of existing projects and identifying new avenues for engagement, particularly in exploration, production, and technological innovation.
As a tangible outcome of the meetings, several bilateral cooperation agreements were signed. Turkmennebit concluded partnership documents with Petronas Carigali Turkmenistan and ADNOC Turkmenistan Limited, while Turkmengaz signed separate agreements with both companies. These agreements underscore the mutual commitment to advancing strategic and long-term partnerships in Turkmenistan’s energy sector.
