Beijing, June 23, 2025 — The Europe Today: Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), held a meeting in Beijing on Sunday with Wan Muhamad Noor Matha, President of Thailand’s National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations.
During the talks, Wang underscored the significance of the consensus reached in February between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on advancing the building of the China–Thailand community with a shared future. He noted that this agreement has set a clear direction for the further development of bilateral cooperation.
Wang emphasized that China is ready to work closely with Thailand to take advantage of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He called for efforts to carry forward the traditional friendship, consolidate the political, economic, and societal foundations of the China–Thailand partnership, and deliver greater benefits to both nations.
He also affirmed that the CPPCC is committed to playing an active role in fostering the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
For his part, Wan Noor highlighted the long-standing historical ties between Thailand and China, noting that the concept of “Thailand and China as one family” is deeply cherished by both peoples.
He expressed strong support for the series of global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping and conveyed Thailand’s readiness to enhance cooperation with China across a range of sectors—including the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, economic and trade collaboration, and the promotion of tourism.
Wan Noor also affirmed the Thai parliament’s willingness to deepen legislative exchanges and cooperation with China in order to promote mutual development and shared prosperity.
The meeting reaffirmed both sides’ commitment to enhancing strategic mutual trust and expanding practical cooperation as they look ahead to a new chapter in China–Thailand relations.
