Morocco Becomes First Country to Deliver Direct Humanitarian Aid to Palestinians in Gaza

Rabat, August 8, 2025 – The Europe Today: In a historic and bold humanitarian move, Morocco has become the first country to deliver humanitarian aid directly to Palestinians on the ground in Gaza, bypassing intermediaries and ensuring swift assistance to a population facing dire circumstances.

On the orders of King Mohammed VI, the Moroccan government dispatched nearly 180 tons of emergency supplies on July 30, including food, medical aid, and shelter materials. The delivery was made through a coordinated route designed to ensure immediate impact, reflecting the country’s deep commitment to the Palestinian cause and its proactive humanitarian diplomacy.

The aid comes at a time when Gaza is grappling with severe starvation, a result of forced famine tactics imposed by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF). According to humanitarian reports, over 197 Palestinians, many of them children and newborns, have already died from hunger-related causes.

The unprecedented direct delivery of aid by Morocco was met with strong praise from senior Palestinian officials, who highlighted its tangible and timely impact. The initiative is seen not only as a lifeline for Gaza’s civilians but also as a powerful message of solidarity and leadership in regional geopolitics.

King Mohammed VI’s commitment to the Palestinian cause is longstanding. Morocco has consistently advocated for a two-state solution, supporting the legitimate rights of Palestinians to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The North African kingdom has also been vocal in calling for an immediate ceasefire and an end to what it describes as the IOF’s genocidal war.

This is not the first time Morocco has acted decisively. In June 2024, the King directed a medical aid operation comprising 40 tons of supplies. Earlier that year, Morocco also delivered 4 tons of humanitarian assistance to Gaza. In each case, aid was handed over in a calm and respectful manner, upholding the dignity of the Palestinian people.

A source familiar with the latest humanitarian delivery told Morocco World News that the initiative “reflects the tangible solidarity that constantly drives Morocco, as well as the unwavering commitment of King Mohammed VI to the Palestinian cause.”

Since October 2023, Moroccans have taken to the streets in massive nationwide protests, demanding international intervention and an end to Israeli aggression. These movements underscore the Moroccan public’s deep-rooted support for Palestine.

Meanwhile, the situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate. According to the Palestinian News Agency, the blockade, combined with the closure of all border crossings by the IOF since March 2, has led to severe shortages of food and medical supplies, pushing the enclave deeper into famine and humanitarian crisis.

The death toll has surpassed 209,000, with thousands more injured or missing, as relentless Israeli airstrikes and ground operations continue.

Morocco’s direct humanitarian action stands as a rare and powerful example of moral leadership amid global paralysis, reaffirming its historic and principled support for the Palestinian people’s right to peace, dignity, and independence.
