Rabat, July 31, 2026 – The Europe Today: King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, presided over the swearing-in ceremony of newly commissioned officers graduating from Morocco’s leading military and paramilitary academies on Friday at Mechouar Square of the Royal Palace in Tetouan.
The ceremony formed part of the celebrations marking the 27th anniversary of the King’s accession to the Throne and was attended by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid.
During the event, King Mohammed VI named the graduating class “Laayoune”, in tribute to the capital of Morocco’s southern provinces. In his address, the King urged the newly commissioned officers to uphold the values of sacrifice, loyalty, patriotism, and dedication to the Kingdom’s national principles, describing Laayoune as a symbol of development, unity, and progress.
The Monarch congratulated the graduates on successfully completing their military and professional training and reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to strengthening its defence and security institutions through modernization, advanced training programmes, improved equipment, and enhanced social welfare for military personnel.
The ceremony brought together graduates from the Royal Military Academy, Royal Air Force Academy, Royal Naval Academy, and the Royal School of Military Health Service, as well as several paramilitary institutions, including the Royal Police Institute, Royal Institute of Territorial Administration, National School of Civil Protection, Mohammadia School of Engineers, National Forestry School of Engineers, Customs Training Institute, and the Mohammed VI International Academy of Civil Aviation.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, King Mohammed VI reviewed the graduating detachments and presented epaulettes to officers promoted during the 2026 promotion cycle.
Later, at the Royal Palace in Tetouan, the King received the Promotion Commission and approved the annual promotion lists for members of the Royal Armed Forces, Royal Gendarmerie, Royal Guard, and Auxiliary Forces.
The Monarch also instructed that his congratulations be conveyed to all newly promoted personnel and encouraged them to continue serving the nation with dedication and professionalism under Morocco’s national motto, “God, Country, King.”
The ceremony was attended by the Head of Government, the presidents of both Houses of Parliament, royal advisors, cabinet members, senior military officials, foreign military attachés accredited to Rabat, and other distinguished civilian and military dignitaries.
