Marat Baikamurov Wins 2025 Qazaqstan Barysy Wrestling Title in Astana

Astana, October 19, 2025 — The Europe Today: Marat Baikamurov of the Asker Barysy team has claimed the title of the 2025 Qazaqstan Barysy wrestling tournament, defeating last year’s champion Yerasyl Kazhybayev, according to local media reports.

Nurdaulet Zharylgapov from the Mangistau region, who previously won gold at the World Nomad Games, secured the bronze medal.

The 14th edition of the prestigious national Qazaq kuresi wrestling championship, Qazaqstan Barysy 2025, officially commenced today at the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Martial Arts Palace in Astana, held in celebration of the forthcoming Republic Day.

This year’s tournament brought together 43 elite wrestlers representing all regions and major cities of Kazakhstan, competing across weight categories from 91 to 167 kilograms.

The total prize fund for the 2025 competition amounts to 27 million tenge, underscoring the growing prominence and national significance of the event, which continues to serve as a symbol of Kazakhstan’s sporting heritage and cultural pride.
