MarrakechNovember 11, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy (CCMI) is set to officially launch its operations on November 19, marking a significant step toward strengthening bilateral economic ties between Morocco and Italy.

According to a press release, the inauguration ceremony will be held at the Senate of the Republic in Rome, specifically in the Sala Caduti di Nassirya at Palazzo Madama from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., followed by an Economic Congress at Palazzo Santa Chiara from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.

The launch event will bring together institutional, diplomatic, and economic representatives from both nations, underscoring a shared commitment to deepening cooperation and unlocking new investment opportunities across multiple sectors.

“The creation of the CCMI represents a strategic platform for consolidating economic relations and creating a lasting bridge between the Moroccan and Italian business communities,” said Marouan El Mansoub, President of the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy.

Headquartered in Modena, with operational offices in Rome, the CCMI will serve as a key partner for companies seeking to develop commercial synergies, investments, and cooperation projects across diverse industries, including industry, tourism, renewable energy, innovation, and agri-food.

The chamber is led by a professional team under a Board of Directors composed of prominent business and institutional figures. Its founding partners specialize in strategic consulting, international development, and institutional relations, positioning the CCMI as a central facilitator for business collaboration between Morocco and Italy.

This inauguration marks a milestone in the rapidly expanding Morocco–Italy economic partnership, which has seen record growth in trade and investment over recent years.

Bilateral goods trade reached approximately €5 billion in 2024, up from around €2.75 billion in 2020, reflecting a steady expansion of commercial ties. Italian exports to Morocco were valued at about €3 billion, while Moroccan exports to Italy surpassed €2 billion. Italy’s main exports to Morocco include refined petroleum, machinery, and electronic components, while Morocco exports cars, fertilizers, electrical wiring, and agri-food products to the Italian market.

The two countries’ partnership has been reinforced through high-level agreements, notably the Action Plan signed in July 2023, which operationalized a “multidimensional strategic partnership” encompassing economic, energy, and sustainable development cooperation.

Italian officials have highlighted Morocco’s strategic geographic position as a gateway between Europe and Africa, identifying significant opportunities for Italian investment in infrastructure, renewable energy, automotive manufacturing, and digital transformation. This vision aligns with the European Union’s decarbonization objectives and Italy’s Mattei Plan for Africa.

Italian investment in Morocco has grown considerably across priority sectors. In 2025, Italy’s export credit agency SACE extended a €365 million green financing facility to support OCP Group’s sustainable industrial projects. Meanwhile, Stellantis, one of Italy’s leading automotive companies, has relocated part of its production to Morocco to leverage the country’s expanding automotive manufacturing ecosystem.

The establishment of the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce in Italy aims to further facilitate trade flows, encourage new investments, and promote joint ventures, consolidating the robust economic partnership that has flourished between 2023 and 2025.

Participating companies at the November 19 inaugural event will have the opportunity to engage directly with Moroccan institutions, network with business leaders and professionals, and explore concrete avenues for investment and collaboration—reinforcing the Morocco–Italy partnership as a cornerstone of economic cooperation in the Mediterranean region.
