Casablanca, April 30, 2026 – The Europe Today: The United States has commended several countries, including Morocco, for their “concrete” contributions toward stabilising the Gaza Strip, during a high-level debate at the United Nations Security Council on the situation in the Middle East.
Addressing the Council, US Ambassador Mike Waltz highlighted the role of Kazakhstan, Albania, Kosovo, Morocco, and Indonesia as nations that have actively supported stability efforts. He noted that these countries are contributing “troops and concrete resources, well beyond simple words,” in relation to the next phase of developments in Gaza.
According to the ambassador, such engagement could help establish conditions for a potential withdrawal of the Israel Defense Forces from Gaza, based on clearly defined criteria, phased steps, and specific timelines under the supervision of independent international observers.
The remarks come amid ongoing discussions at the United Nations regarding future governance and security arrangements in Gaza following months of conflict. Proposals under consideration include varying degrees of international involvement aimed at supporting stability, although no final framework has yet been publicly confirmed.
Morocco’s inclusion reflects its continued engagement on the Palestinian issue, combining diplomatic efforts with humanitarian assistance. Institutions such as the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency have sustained aid programmes for Palestinian civilians, while Rabat has consistently called for a ceasefire and the protection of civilians.
The developments underscore growing international efforts to coordinate post-conflict stabilisation measures in Gaza and advance pathways toward lasting peace and security in the region.
