Jakarta, January 28, 2026 – The Europe Today: Indonesia is set to draw international investment in its maritime and fisheries sector through the Ocean Impact Summit (OIS) 2026, scheduled to be held in Bali on June 8-9.
Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, Desri Yanti, Head of the Multilateral Cooperation Team at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, said the summit will be held with the support of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and is expected to provide Indonesia with direct access to global investors and business leaders.
“We hope this event can generate investment commitments in the maritime and fisheries sector, as well as foster partnerships with the private sector for the blue economy,” Yanti stated.
She highlighted Indonesia’s aim to shift the maritime narrative from a sole focus on conservation toward the utilization of maritime resources as a driver of economic growth. Yanti emphasized that these resources should serve as a foundation for innovation, job creation, and sustainable economic development.
The Ocean Impact Summit 2026 is also expected to strengthen Indonesia’s leadership in the global maritime and fisheries sector. As the world’s largest archipelagic nation, Indonesia is positioning itself to become a hub for the maritime economy not only in Southeast Asia but globally.
In addition, Yanti noted that OIS 2026 is anticipated to deliver tangible outcomes, including investment commitments, private sector partnerships, and financing initiatives to support the blue economy and the future development of Indonesia’s maritime and fisheries sector.
The WEF’s support for the summit was formalized through the signing of a Letter of Intent between Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono and WEF managing directors Sebastian Buckup and Maroun Kairouz in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday, January 22.
