Jakarta, March 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto warned on Monday that Indonesia must prepare for economic and political challenges arising from ongoing global conflicts, particularly escalating tensions in the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of national resilience and unity.
Speaking during a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel, the president said shifting geopolitical dynamics around the world could affect multiple sectors of Indonesia’s economy and society, urging the government and citizens to remain vigilant and prepared.
“We face difficulties with the determination to overcome them. We do not hide from difficulties, nor do we pretend they do not exist,” Prabowo said.
He stressed that the government would not ignore the risks posed by the evolving global situation, noting that proactive policies and preparedness are essential to mitigate the potential impact of external shocks.
According to the president, conflicts in several regions—particularly in the Middle East—could generate broader economic pressures and increase global uncertainty that may eventually affect Indonesia’s domestic economy.
Prabowo added that rising geopolitical tensions can disrupt global trade flows, weaken investment sentiment, and impact energy markets, factors that could influence inflation and economic growth prospects in many countries, including Indonesia.
Despite these challenges, the Indonesian leader expressed confidence that the country possesses significant strength to confront potential disruptions, highlighting national unity and social cohesion as key assets during periods of global instability.
He said such unity has historically helped Indonesia weather crises and maintain stability even when international economic conditions deteriorate.
Prabowo also emphasized the importance of cooperation among government institutions, the private sector, and communities to safeguard economic resilience and sustain development momentum.
“United we are strong; together, we will face all difficulties and emerge from every crisis,” he said, reaffirming confidence in the country’s ability to adapt to global changes.
Earlier, Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono noted that President Prabowo has expressed readiness to help mediate tensions between Iran and the United States over the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Sugiono said Indonesia’s potential role as a mediator would depend on the willingness of the parties involved, while reiterating Jakarta’s commitment to promoting dialogue and helping reduce regional tensions.
