Baku, June 3, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a telephone conversation on June 2 with Canada’s Foreign Minister, Anita Anand, to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual interest.
During the call, the two ministers reviewed the current state of Azerbaijan-Canada relations and explored prospects for expanding cooperation across various sectors. Anand congratulated Azerbaijan on the 108th anniversary of its Independence Day and reaffirmed Canada’s interest in further strengthening ties with the country.
Bayramov expressed appreciation for the congratulations and highlighted the significant potential for enhancing political dialogue and broadening cooperation between Azerbaijan and Canada.
The ministers emphasized the importance of exploring new opportunities for collaboration in areas including green transition, renewable energy, information and communication technologies (ICT), and energy security, alongside other fields of mutual interest.
The conversation also covered regional developments, including the post-conflict situation in the South Caucasus and ongoing efforts toward normalization and peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Bayramov provided an overview of the historical context of the conflict, the impact of occupation on Azerbaijan, and the measures being undertaken to promote lasting peace and stability in the region.
The two sides also exchanged views on a range of other international and regional issues of shared concern, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining dialogue and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
