Ashgabat, June 5, 2026 – The Europe Today: ASHGABAT: Türkiye and Turkmenistan have signed the protocol of the 9th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation (HEK) and approved a 71-point action plan aimed at expanding bilateral economic ties across multiple sectors, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz announced on his social media account on X.
As part of the 9th session of the Türkiye–Turkmenistan Intergovernmental Commission, Yılmaz held meetings in both narrow and expanded formats with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyyev.
According to the Turkish vice president, the signed protocol and action plan outline concrete steps to enhance cooperation in key areas, including trade, investment, energy, transport, education, and industry. The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to advancing joint production initiatives, boosting investment projects, and expanding cooperation in third-country markets.
Türkiye and Turkmenistan both regard economic partnership as a central pillar of their bilateral relations. Earlier statements from both countries indicated a shared goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover to $5 billion in the coming years.
Yılmaz expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for hosting the meeting and highlighted the contributions of all participants in strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
