Seoul, August 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s national judo team delivered an impressive performance at the Skopje Junior European Cup 2026 in Skopje, North Macedonia, securing a total of seven medals and finishing third overall among 33 participating countries.
On the final day of the competition, Khadija Gadashova and Davud Namazli clinched gold medals in the women’s -57 kg and men’s -100 kg weight categories, respectively.
Azerbaijani judokas also claimed five bronze medals. Nargiz Ahmadova and Gulgaz Musayeva both secured bronze in the -48 kg category, while Ayten Verdiyeva won bronze in the -57 kg category and Janpolad Aliyev took bronze in the -100 kg division.
Earlier in the tournament, Nilgun Rzayeva added another bronze medal for Azerbaijan in the -63 kg category.
With a final medal tally of two gold and five bronze medals, Azerbaijan finished third in the overall standings among 33 countries, highlighting the strength and depth of the country’s junior judo program.
