Clark, August 04, 2024, The Europe Today: On the second day of their visit to the Republic of the Philippines, the Turkmen delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Akhmet Gurbanov, toured the Clark Freeport Free Economic Zone. This visit marked a significant step in deepening cooperation between the two nations, offering a platform for experience exchange and discussions on future joint projects, as reported by the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
During the visit, the delegation met with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) to explore opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. The Philippine side presented a detailed overview of the Clark Freeport Free Economic Zone, highlighting an ambitious project to create a new environmentally friendly city. A tour of the Clark territory provided the Turkmen delegation with a firsthand look at the achievements and initiatives of the Philippine side.
The Turkmen delegation expressed high appreciation for the projects being implemented and showed keen interest in exchanging experiences in the creation and management of free economic zones. Additionally, the Turkmen side introduced their Philippine counterparts to the new smart city “Arkadag,” which opened just over a year ago. During the presentation, key features and achievements of Arkadag were highlighted, along with plans for the second stage of the city’s construction. The Turkmen delegation extended an invitation to the Philippine colleagues to visit Turkmenistan to gain a more detailed understanding of Arkadag and to establish deeper contacts.
This exchange of experiences and joint initiatives underscores the mutual desire to strengthen bilateral relations and collaborate on projects in economic development and infrastructure. The visit to Clark Freeport Zone has set a promising foundation for future cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Philippines.
