Abu Dhabi, November 23, 2024 – The Europe Today: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, held a high-level meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi to deepen strategic relations and explore expanded collaboration under the UAE-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
His Highness welcomed President Subianto, expressing his wishes for Indonesia’s continued progress and development. He highlighted the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations and expressed hope for the visit to open new avenues for cooperation.
The talks reaffirmed the leaders’ commitment to advancing bilateral relations, focusing on existing areas of cooperation and new opportunities made possible by CEPA, signed in 2022. Key sectors discussed included infrastructure, renewable energy, food security, climate action, education, healthcare, sustainable agriculture, and tourism.
The discussions also emphasized the cultural ties between the UAE and Indonesia, acknowledging their role in strengthening people-to-people connections. Regional and global issues of mutual concern were reviewed, with both leaders reaffirming their shared commitment to multilateral efforts addressing global challenges and promoting peace and stability.
Highlighting economic ties, His Highness noted the 12% growth in non-oil trade between the two countries in 2023, amounting to USD 4.6 billion, and reiterated the CEPA goal of increasing trade to USD 10 billion. President Subianto welcomed the agreements announced during the visit and expressed enthusiasm for further broadening bilateral cooperation.
The meeting was followed by an official luncheon hosted by His Highness in honor of President Subianto and his delegation, attended by UAE ministers and senior officials, as well as key Indonesian dignitaries.
