Kazakhstan and Russia to Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Joint Projects in 2025

Astana, November 28, 2024 – The Europe Today: Kazakhstan and Russia will embark on a series of ambitious joint projects next year, according to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The announcement came during a press briefing following his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Together with President Putin, we discussed in detail the dynamics of interaction between our countries in a multilateral format and exchanged views on pressing regional and global policy issues in a constructive manner,” President Tokayev stated. He emphasized the strong mutual understanding between the two nations within international organizations, including the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Highlighting the robust ties, Tokayev remarked, “There is virtually no area in which our countries do not interact, and most importantly, Kazakhstan and Russia have no disputes. We always find balanced solutions that serve the interests of both sides.”

The Kazakh leader also expressed gratitude to President Putin for his commitment to fostering friendly relations between the two nations. He noted the groundwork laid for joint projects in 2025, which he believes will yield significant benefits for citizens and businesses in both countries.

Additionally, Tokayev highlighted two milestone anniversaries in 2025: the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in World War II and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The two leaders agreed to organize commemorative events to mark these occasions, further enriching the bilateral agenda.

The upcoming January will also commemorate 20 years since the signing of the Treaty on the Kazakh-Russian State Border, a foundational agreement underscoring the strong partnership between the neighboring states.

President Tokayev concluded by affirming that Kazakhstan and Russia’s bilateral relations are regularly updated with innovative initiatives and projects, reflecting their enduring cooperation and shared vision for the future.
