Jakarta, December 29, 2024 – The Europe Today: President Prabowo Subianto underscored the significance of Indonesia’s diversity as a source of strength for fostering unity and achieving shared aspirations during the 2024 National Christmas Celebration in Jakarta on Saturday.
“We celebrate Christmas as part of our lives, as part of our identity — that Indonesia is a diverse nation, a nation full of differences, but with one soul, one will, one desire to live in harmony, as one big family to achieve shared ideals and goals,” the president remarked.
Addressing participants via video conferencing from North Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, and Papua, the president extended heartfelt Christmas greetings. “Merry Christmas from me and your brothers and sisters in Jakarta,” he said.
Prabowo reflected on his family background, highlighting the values of Pancasila, Indonesia’s national ideology based on five principles. He shared that his Christian mother instilled in him a deep appreciation for tolerance and diversity. “Many of my family are Christians. I was also born from a Christian mother, so maybe it can be said that I myself am proof of the Pancasila family,” Prabowo remarked, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.
The president praised the spirit of national harmony displayed during the Christmas celebration and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and unity. “Peace and unity are great values of the Indonesian nation, which must continue to be preserved and cherished,” he added.
Prabowo also called on Indonesians to work diligently towards a better future while upholding the values of diversity and unity that define the nation.
