Abu Dhabi, January 14, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the Qasr Al Shatie Palace in Abu Dhabi, as reported by Akorda. The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, focused on bolstering bilateral ties and advancing strategic cooperation between the two nations.
President Tokayev expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality, commending the UAE’s leadership in hosting the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. Reflecting on his previous meetings with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in 2023, Tokayev highlighted the significant progress achieved in fostering cooperation and opening new avenues of interaction.
“The UAE is our key partner in the Arab world. We are committed to close cooperation across all dimensions of bilateral and multilateral relations for the benefit of our nations. I commend your efforts in enhancing the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the UAE, which continues to evolve in the spirit of friendship, trust, and mutual respect,” Tokayev stated. He extended an invitation for Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to visit Kazakhstan, expressing confidence that such a visit would further strengthen ties.
Tokayev noted that the UAE ranks among the top 10 foreign investors in Kazakhstan, with direct investment inflows nearly doubling last year. Reaffirming their shared goal to increase trade turnover to $1 billion, he emphasized the importance of focusing on concrete economic initiatives. He also highlighted the Joint Declaration on Strategic Investment Projects, under which Emirati companies are collaborating with Kazakhstan in diverse sectors, including transport, logistics, energy, finance, and tourism.
In response, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed thanked President Tokayev for attending the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and praised the productive cooperation between the two nations. He emphasized the importance of enhancing political dialogue and economic ties while ensuring the effective implementation of prior agreements. The Emirati President expressed confidence that the relationship between Kazakhstan and the UAE would reach new heights in 2025, contributing to mutual development and prosperity.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also acknowledged Kazakhstan’s pivotal role in addressing international and regional security issues and fostering sustainable development.
