Abu Dhabi, January 15, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, currently on a working visit to Abu Dhabi, met with Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, and Khaled Salmeen, Chief Executive Officer of Downstream at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), to discuss bilateral cooperation in renewable energy and the oil and gas sector.
During the meeting, President Tokayev emphasized the significant progress in the partnership between Kazakhstan and Masdar, highlighting the successful signing of agreements for a large-scale project to construct a 1GW wind power plant in the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan. The total investment for the project is estimated at $1.4 billion. Al Ramahi shared that Masdar plans to begin construction soon and expressed interest in utilizing local components for the production of wind turbines.
The leaders also discussed the expansion of Masdar’s operations in Kazakhstan, focusing on new projects in renewable energy and digitalization.
President Tokayev reiterated Kazakhstan’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with ADNOC, noting the vast potential for cooperation between the oil and gas sectors of both nations. Khaled Salmeen underscored the promising prospects for collaboration, particularly in oil and gas investments, geological exploration, and digitalization, with a special emphasis on artificial intelligence.
The discussions reaffirmed the mutual desire to enhance bilateral ties and implement strategic projects aimed at advancing sustainable energy and technological innovation in both countries.
