Jakarta, February 5, 2025 – The Europe Today: The sale of subsidized 3-kg LPG cylinders has resumed as normal following President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, a minister confirmed.
President Prabowo instructed Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia to lift the previous restriction on sales, allowing retailers to continue distributing the subsidized LPG.
“The distribution of 3-kg gas has returned to normal since the President instructed that sales resume as usual,” stated Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan while inspecting food and gas prices at Klender Market in East Jakarta on Wednesday.
He highlighted that the president’s decision has stabilized LPG supply in the market, ensuring that residents can access cooking gas at reasonable prices.
“The mothers at the market also expressed their gratitude to the President for making the gas cylinder easier to purchase anytime,” Hasan remarked.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had initially limited sales of 3-kg LPG cylinders to designated distributors from February 1, leading to difficulties for consumers and long queues.
An elderly woman in South Tangerang, Banten, reportedly passed away from exhaustion after waiting in line to buy a subsidized LPG cylinder on Monday. Minister Lahadalia has since apologized for the unfortunate incident.
To improve accessibility, the government has upgraded retailers to sub-distributors, allowing them to resume sales of the green-colored LPG cylinders.
