Vietnamese Prime Minister Hosts Samsung Vietnam Leadership

Hanoi, February 13, 2025 – The Europe Today: Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính received General Director of Samsung Vietnam Choi Joo Ho and his successor, Na Ki Hong, in Hanoi on Wednesday, reaffirming the strategic economic partnership between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK).

During the meeting, PM Chính expressed his appreciation for Choi’s contributions to Samsung Vietnam’s growth and the broader RoK-Vietnam relationship. He encouraged Na Ki Hong to sustain and further develop Samsung’s investment strategies and operational plans within Vietnam.

Choi and Na highlighted Samsung’s significant presence as the largest foreign direct investor in Vietnam, with a total registered investment capital of US$23.2 billion. In 2024, the company recorded a revenue of $62.5 billion and an export value of $54.4 billion. Since 2014, Samsung has expanded its local supplier network to 306 Vietnamese companies and supported numerous initiatives to enhance business operations, smart factory development, and workforce training in Vietnam’s supporting industries.

Samsung representatives expressed gratitude for the Vietnamese government’s consistent support and reiterated the company’s commitment to expanding investments in new fields such as artificial intelligence and digital transformation. They called for continued government support to facilitate their business and investment activities in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Chính commended Samsung’s efforts and Choi’s leadership in advancing bilateral economic ties. He expressed confidence that Choi, in future roles, would continue fostering cooperation between Samsung and Vietnam. He also reaffirmed the Vietnamese government’s commitment to providing a stable and favorable business environment for Samsung, in line with the growing comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the RoK.

The Prime Minister urged Samsung to further integrate Vietnamese enterprises into its global supply chain by enhancing their production capabilities. He also encouraged collaboration in developing Việt Nam’s digital technology sector, expanding research and development (R&D) investments, and supporting startup and innovation activities through training centers at the National Innovation Centre (NIC).

Additionally, PM Chính called for Samsung’s active participation in advancing Vietnam’s semiconductor industry, scientific research, and digital transformation initiatives. He reaffirmed the country’s commitment to improving its investment environment and achieving an 8% economic growth rate in 2025, with aspirations for double-digit expansion in the near future.

The meeting underscores the continued strengthening of Vietnam-RoK economic cooperation, as Samsung Vietnam embarks on a new phase of investment and development under Na Ki Hong’s leadership.
