Paris, April 15, 2026 – The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron held comprehensive discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors during their meeting at the Élysée Palace on Tuesday.
President Prabowo was accorded a warm ceremonial استقبال upon arrival, including a guard of honor hosted by President Macron. Following a brief photo session, the two leaders proceeded to the Les Salon des Portraits for a closed-door tête-à-tête meeting, reflecting the importance both sides attach to their evolving partnership.
According to Indonesia’s Presidential Secretariat, the bilateral engagement served as a strategic platform to review and advance Indonesia–France relations. Discussions covered key areas of cooperation, alongside an exchange of views on pressing global issues, underscoring the shared commitment of both nations to international stability and multilateral dialogue.
After the high-level talks, President Macron hosted a formal banquet in honor of President Prabowo. The Indonesian side described the occasion as an integral component of high-level diplomacy, aimed at strengthening personal rapport between the leaders and reinforcing the broader foundation of bilateral ties.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied President Prabowo during the visit. Officials noted that the meeting also provided an opportunity for Indonesia to present its strategic perspectives on global developments, including ongoing tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. President Prabowo emphasized the importance of maintaining global stability and promoting peaceful resolutions through dialogue.
The Paris visit followed President Prabowo’s earlier engagement in Moscow, where he held a five-hour meeting with Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin, highlighting Indonesia’s active diplomatic outreach on key international issues.
This marks President Prabowo’s second visit to the French capital in 2026, following his January trip at the invitation of President Macron. He had also visited Paris in July last year, where he observed Indonesian Defense Forces personnel participating alongside French troops in the Bastille Day parade along the Champs-Élysées, reflecting growing defense and ceremonial cooperation between the two countries.
The latest engagement signals a continued upward trajectory in Indonesia–France relations, with both sides seeking to expand cooperation while contributing constructively to global peace and stability.
