Doha, June 26, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Netherlands secured top spot in Group F of the FIFA World Cup with a 3-1 victory over Tunisia, booking a Round of 16 encounter against Morocco.
Already eliminated from the tournament, Tunisia suffered an early setback after conceding an own goal before Dutch forward Brian Brobbey, who scored twice against Sweden in the previous match, doubled the Netherlands’ advantage within minutes.
The victory ensured the Netherlands finished first in Group F. Japan claimed second place with five points, while Sweden finished third on four points. All three teams progressed to the Round of 16 under the tournament’s qualification format.
By topping the group, the Netherlands avoided a potential knockout meeting with Brazil and will instead face Morocco in the next round.
Japan also advanced to the knockout stage after finishing as Group F runners-up, while Sweden qualified among the tournament’s best third-placed teams.
