Germany Records Third Consecutive Day of Record-Breaking Heat

Germany

Berlin, June 29, 2026 – The Europe Today: Germany has recorded its highest temperature ever for the third consecutive day, with the mercury climbing to 41.7 degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon, according to the German Weather Service (DWD), media reports said.

The record temperature was measured in Neißemünde, a municipality in the eastern German state of Brandenburg.

The latest reading marks the third straight day that Germany has set a new national temperature record amid an intense heatwave affecting large parts of Europe.

On Friday, the German Weather Service recorded a temperature of 41.3 degrees Celsius in Saarbrücken, surpassing the country’s previous all-time high.

The record was broken again on Saturday when temperatures reached 41.5 degrees Celsius in Möckern-Drewitz, setting a new national benchmark before Sunday’s unprecedented high.

Meteorological authorities continue to monitor the extreme weather conditions as Germany, along with several other European countries, experiences an intense and prolonged heatwave that has led to record-breaking temperatures across the region.
