Rabat, July 13, 2026 – The Europe Today: Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following the passing of his father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, reaffirming the deep fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Qatar.
In a message addressed to the Qatari Emir, King Mohammed VI expressed profound sorrow over the loss, extending his sympathies to Sheikh Tamim, the Qatari royal family, and the people of Qatar.
The Moroccan monarch described the late Sheikh Hamad as a visionary leader whose contributions played a pivotal role in Qatar’s modernisation and in strengthening its economic and political standing on the regional and international stage.
King Mohammed VI also praised Sheikh Hamad’s support for just Arab causes and his efforts to promote Arab and Islamic solidarity, noting that his leadership had elevated Qatar’s global profile and enhanced its constructive role in regional affairs.
Highlighting the close relationship between the two countries, the King recalled the late Emir’s enduring friendship with Morocco, saying Sheikh Hamad maintained strong bonds of brotherhood with the Kingdom and consistently demonstrated solidarity during both times of prosperity and adversity.
He further noted that Sheikh Hamad had always supported Morocco’s development initiatives and its just causes, reflecting the depth of the longstanding partnership between Rabat and Doha.
Concluding his message, King Mohammed VI prayed for the eternal peace of the late leader, asking Almighty God to grant him mercy, forgiveness, and a place in Paradise in recognition of his distinguished service to Qatar and the wider Muslim world.
The Moroccan King also prayed for the continued well-being, health, and long life of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and reaffirmed Morocco’s sincere sympathy and highest esteem for the Qatari leadership and people during this period of mourning.
