Dushanbe, October 25, 2026 – The Europe Today: Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on Saturday inaugurated a fish processing facility operated by the domestic company Bahor LLC in the Romit rural area of Vahdat city, as the country seeks to expand fish production, create employment opportunities and increase exports to international markets.
During the visit, the president was briefed on the facility’s production capacity, processing operations and export plans. The company aims to increase its fish export capacity to 300 tonnes by the end of 2026 and further raise it to 1,000 tonnes annually in 2027.
Bahor LLC has already exported 120 tonnes of frozen fish to the Russian Federation and is holding negotiations to begin exports to European markets, including Hungary and the United Kingdom. Product samples have also been sent to several other countries to explore additional export opportunities.
The newly inaugurated facility has created 30 permanent jobs for local residents, while 40 people were temporarily employed during its construction, which began in 2024.
Covering an area of 30 sotkas, the facility is equipped with modern production and processing machinery imported and installed by leading Chinese companies.
During the inspection, Rahmon was shown the processes involved in cleaning, processing, cutting and freezing fish, as well as extracting and preparing fish roe for export. Following processing, the products are packed in boxes and stored in refrigerated facilities.
On the same site, the president also laid the foundation stone for the second phase of the fish processing complex, which will include a cold storage facility with a capacity of 300 tonnes.
Following the president’s guidance, the company’s management pledged to establish a large-scale fish processing plant in Dushanbe within a short period to supply consumers with high-quality, environmentally friendly fish products.
Expanding Fish Production and Employment
Bahor LLC currently raises more than 1,000 tonnes of fish in its ponds, with plans to increase production through the construction of additional ponds. The company’s fish farming operations presently provide permanent employment to approximately 500 local residents.
The farm primarily breeds rainbow trout and golden trout. Its products meet international quality requirements, and the company holds international ISO and Halal certifications.
The president previously inaugurated the fish farm on October 8, 2020, and visited it again on November 10, 2022. During his earlier visits, Rahmon instructed local entrepreneur Saidmuhriddin Sayfov to increase fish production and exports, establish fish sales outlets, and develop restaurants and catering facilities specializing in fish dishes.
According to officials, the company has been implementing these directives. Bahor LLC has established more than 10 trout sales outlets and 10 fish restaurants and eateries in Dushanbe, Bokhtar in the Khatlon region, and other districts. These facilities are operating successfully.
The Bahor Foreli restaurant in Dushanbe, inaugurated on July 16, 2024, by President Rahmon and Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, has created more than 150 permanent jobs.
Ambitious Development Plans Through 2031
Sayfov pledged to continue expanding fish farming in the Romit area by constructing additional ponds. With the support of the government and under the State Programme for the Development of Fish Farming, the company intends to strengthen supplies to markets in the capital and increase fish exports in the coming years.
As part of its long-term development strategy leading up to the 40th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence, the company plans to achieve the following targets by 2031:
- Increase the number of fish-farming ponds to 50.
- Raise commercial fish production to 4,000 tonnes.
- Introduce cage-based fish farming in large ponds.
- Increase the production and cultivation of fish fry from two million to four million.
The company also plans to establish additional facilities for fish processing and packaging, freezing, refrigerated storage and large-scale storage of frozen fish.
In addition, Bahor LLC intends to construct and commission School No. 33 in Jаloliddin Balkhi district, designed to accommodate 1,500 students in two shifts.
At the conclusion of his visit, President Rahmon praised entrepreneur Sayfov’s efforts to develop fish farming, create jobs, improve local infrastructure and establish processing facilities aimed at expanding exports.
The government has identified the development of domestic production, improved food supplies and increased export capacity as important areas for strengthening Tajikistan’s economy. Bahor LLC’s expansion plans are expected to contribute to these objectives while creating further employment opportunities for local communities.
