10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Opens in Hanoi

Hanoi, October 17, 2024 – The Europe Today: The 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) officially opened on Thursday, bringing together 1,052 delegates representing various ethnic groups, religions, armed forces, and overseas Vietnamese, in a show of national solidarity. The three-day event, themed “Solidarity – Democracy – Innovation – Creativity – Development,” aims to assess the achievements and challenges of the VFF from 2019 to 2024 and set the direction for the 2024-2029 term.

Attending the congress were Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm, along with Politburo members Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn, and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Lương Cường, among other key officials.

In his opening remarks, Đỗ Văn Chiến, President of the 9th VFF Central Committee, emphasized the importance of strengthening the national unity bloc and evaluating the work done in the past term. He also outlined the congress’s goals for setting objectives and tasks for the next five years, including electing new leadership for the VFF.

Participants at the congress expressed expectations for the Party and State to continue fostering economic development, job creation, poverty reduction, and climate change mitigation, particularly in remote areas.

Vice President and General Secretary of the 9th VFF Central Committee Nguyễn Thị Thu Hà delivered a report on the organization’s activities during the previous term, highlighting its contributions to social security and national unity through various campaigns and charitable efforts.

The congress will conclude with the adoption of six action programs for the 2024-2029 term, focusing on enhancing public engagement, promoting innovation, and fostering stronger connections between the people and the Party.
