UAE’s Lana Nusseibeh Visits Paris to Bolster Strategic Ties with France

Paris, April 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, concluded an official visit to Paris from April 7–8, 2025, aimed at reaffirming the enduring strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the French Republic. The visit marked another milestone in the close and evolving cooperation between the two countries, deepening alignment on foreign policy and regional issues of shared concern.

First Round of Political Consultations

A central highlight of the visit was the first round of political consultations held at the Quai d’Orsay, co-chaired by Frédéric Mondoloni, Director General for Political and Security Affairs at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. These consultations addressed a range of complex geopolitical developments across Europe, the Middle East, and the Horn of Africa.

The discussions reflected a shared emphasis on diplomacy, mediation, and multilateral cooperation to navigate global challenges. Both sides confirmed their commitment to joint action, underscoring a mutual belief in the importance of dialogue and proactive diplomacy in achieving peace and stability in turbulent regions.

High-Level Bilateral Engagements

Nusseibeh also held a series of bilateral meetings with senior French officials at the Elysee Palace, reinforcing the strategic nature of the UAE-France relationship. Among those she met were:

  • Paul Soler, Special Envoy of the President of France;
  • Jérémie Robert, Head of African Affairs;
  • Bruno Fuchs, Member of Parliament and Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

The meetings explored further coordination on regional security, particularly in the Middle East and the Horn of Africa, and examined opportunities for enhanced cooperation in areas such as investment, development assistance, trade, and emerging technologies, notably Artificial Intelligence.

Throughout the discussions, a shared goal emerged: working together to foster global peace and stability while addressing critical challenges with a spirit of partnership and mutual respect.

Continuing Strategic Momentum

Nusseibeh’s visit builds on recent high-level exchanges between the two nations, including the state visit by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in February, and the visit by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in March. These engagements continue to cement the UAE-France relationship as a cornerstone of international cooperation in addressing pressing regional and global challenges.

The official visit underscores the UAE’s diplomatic commitment to forging strong international partnerships grounded in shared values and a vision for collective progress in an increasingly complex global landscape.
