Cairo, June 2, 2025 – The Europe Today: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has arrived in Egypt’s capital, Cairo, for an official visit aimed at strengthening ties between Tehran and Cairo and addressing key developments in the West Asia region.
Araqchi landed in Cairo on Sunday night and is set to hold talks with top Egyptian officials, including President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. The visit comes amid heightened regional tensions and growing international concern over the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
According to a statement released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the discussions will focus on enhancing bilateral relations between Iran and Egypt, while also addressing a range of pressing international and regional issues. A particular emphasis will be placed on the situation in Gaza, where the statement accuses Israel of committing serious crimes against the Palestinian population.
The Iranian top diplomat’s visit to Cairo reflects a renewed diplomatic engagement between the two countries and underscores Iran’s active regional diplomacy amid ongoing crises.
Following his engagements in Egypt, Foreign Minister Araqchi is also scheduled to travel to Lebanon for further consultations with Lebanese officials.
