Azerbaijan

Baku, August 8, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Republic of Azerbaijan celebrated its National Day on August 6 as part of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), currently underway in Avaza.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, the event was dedicated to promoting the nation’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage to a global audience. The celebration featured an exhibition titled “Pearls of Azerbaijan’s National Heritage”, which drew wide interest from international delegates and visitors.

The exhibition presented a diverse collection of traditional Azerbaijani art forms and crafts, including carpet weaving, regional carpet schools, national clothing, kelaghayi (traditional silk headscarves), shabaka (stained glass artistry), and embroidery masterpieces. The display offered attendees an immersive experience into Azerbaijan’s centuries-old cultural traditions.

Throughout the day, visitors participated in interactive masterclasses on carpet weaving, stained glass design, kelaghayi decoration, and jewelry making. The event was further enriched by live musical performances and traditional Azerbaijani dance showcases, adding vibrant color and rhythm to the celebration.

A culinary section offering samples of Azerbaijan’s renowned national cuisine also garnered significant attention, giving guests a taste of the country’s culinary richness.

The day’s festivities culminated in a grand concert program, headlined by some of Azerbaijan’s most distinguished performers. Notable appearances included People’s Artists Alim Gasimov and Gulyanag Mammadova, Honored Artists Fargana Gasimova, Ramil Gasimov, Nargiz Karimova, and Sahib Pashazade, along with Ashig Samira, Ashig Ali, the Natig Rhythm Group, and the Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble.

The cultural exhibition “Pearls of Azerbaijan’s National Heritage” will remain open to visitors in Avaza until August 8, continuing to serve as a cultural bridge between Azerbaijan and the international community attending the LLDCs Conference.
