Peru Invites Indonesian Investors to Boost Cooperation in Logistics, Industry, and Technology

Jakarta, August 12, 2025 – The Europe Today: Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra has extended an invitation to Indonesian entrepreneurs to invest across various sectors in Peru, including logistics, industry, and technology.

Speaking during a joint press statement with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday, President Boluarte highlighted Peru’s vast potential for cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, as the two countries mark 50 years of diplomatic relations since August 12, 1975.

“Peru is open for Indonesian investors in sustainable, responsible, and inclusive sectors. Specifically, I invite Indonesian entrepreneurs to become users and future investors in all logistics, industry, and technology centers in Peru’s central coastal region,” Boluarte said.

She outlined prospective business and infrastructure hubs, including the Port of Chancay, Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, and the Ancón Industrial Park (PIA) in northern Lima. Boluarte underscored Peru’s aspiration to become a major logistics gateway in the Pacific and South America, positioning itself as an integrated hub for Asia-Pacific trade.

President Boluarte’s state visit marked the first by a Peruvian head of state to Indonesia since the establishment of bilateral relations five decades ago. Her engagements with President Prabowo included witnessing the signing of the Indonesia–Peru Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), concluded after 14 months of negotiations.

Welcoming the agreement, Boluarte noted that the CEPA would facilitate Peruvian exports to Indonesia, including products such as blueberries, pomegranates, quinoa, and chia seeds.

President Boluarte was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer Salcedo, Minister of Economy and Finance Raúl Pérez-Reyes Espejo, Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation Ángel Amnero Campo, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Úrsula Desilú León Chempén, Secretary General of the Presidential Office Enrique Vilchez, Peruvian Ambassador to Indonesia Luis Tsuboyama, and Director General for Asia and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Fernando Quiros Campos.

On the Indonesian side, President Prabowo was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.
