Hanoi, November 13, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Lương Cường and King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan agreed to strengthen comprehensive cooperation and facilitate market access for each other’s key products during their talks held on Wednesday in Hànoi.
President Cường underscored the historical significance of the visit — the first high-level exchange between Việtnam and Jordan since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago (1980–2025). He expressed confidence that the visit would open a new and promising chapter in the bilateral relationship.
Congratulating Jordan on nearly eight decades of progress since its independence, President Cường commended the country’s effective implementation of its economic modernisation vision, which promotes sustainable growth, efficiency, and social equity. He affirmed that these achievements provide a solid foundation to further expand multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.
Highlighting the shared history of resilience and struggle for independence and national liberation, President Cường reaffirmed Việt Nam’s commitment to strengthening a substantive and effective partnership with Jordan across multiple sectors.
For his part, King Abdullah II emphasised that both nations possess invaluable assets — their diligent, creative people, quality education, and growing capabilities in science, technology, and digital transformation.
Agreeing that current bilateral cooperation has yet to match the two sides’ potential and aspirations, the leaders pledged to elevate relations to a new stage of development.
Both sides agreed on the need to consolidate political trust through regular exchanges, especially at the high level, and to effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding between their foreign ministries signed during the visit. King Abdullah II proposed that the two ministries act as focal points to explore mechanisms for enhancing cooperation and harmonising regulations to create a favorable legal framework for collaboration in various areas.
Building on strengthened political trust, President Cường and King Abdullah II agreed to deepen cooperation in defence and security, promote information sharing, and enhance exchanges of experts and personnel between their respective institutions to foster mutual understanding and share best practices.
In the economic sphere, the two leaders vowed to encourage business communities to explore investment and partnership opportunities in infrastructure, the green and digital economies, telecommunications, manufacturing, and agricultural processing. They also agreed to enhance connectivity between the two countries’ start-up and innovation ecosystems.
King Abdullah II suggested exploring the establishment of direct air routes and facilitating visa issuance to promote tourism and business exchanges.
President Cường reaffirmed Việt Nam’s readiness to expand exports of its key agricultural products to Jordan, while King Abdullah II expressed his willingness to support Việt Nam’s development of the Halal sector through information sharing, certification, and by opening Jordan’s market to Vietnamese Halal products.
The two leaders also discussed cooperation in healthcare — an area of Jordanian expertise — particularly in telemedicine and technology-driven medical applications.
In education and training, they agreed to strengthen student and academic exchanges, particularly in emerging fields such as science and technology, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors — sectors they identified as holding great promise for the young generations of both nations.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close consultations, supporting each other’s candidacies at international organisations, and acting as bridges to promote stronger ties between the Arab League and ASEAN.
They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of shared concern, including the East Sea (internationally known as the South China Sea) issue, stressing the importance of peace, stability, and adherence to international law.
Later the same day, King Abdullah II also met with Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, and National Assembly Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn.
