Norway’s Harald V Hospitalized in Tenerife with Infection and Dehydration

Oslo, February 25, 2026 – The Europe Today: Norway’s King Harald has been admitted to hospital on the Spanish island of Tenerife after suffering from an infection and dehydration, the Royal Palace said in a statement on Tuesday.

The 89-year-old monarch, who has served as Norway’s ceremonial head of state since 1991, is receiving medical treatment while staying abroad. No further details about his condition were immediately released.

King Harald ascended to the throne in 1991 and is one of Europe’s longest-reigning monarchs.
