Jakarta, April 4, 2026 – The Europe Today: Indonesia’s Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, extended heartfelt Easter greetings to Christian communities and called for prayers to تعزيز peace, harmony, and national unity across the country.
Speaking in Jakarta, the minister conveyed his message for Easter 2026, emphasizing that the occasion is not only a religious celebration but also an opportunity to strengthen spiritual values within society. He urged Christians to use the festive period as a foundation to reinforce solidarity and promote social cohesion among diverse communities.
Highlighting the importance of unity, Nasaruddin encouraged believers to pray for the well-being of the nation. He expressed hope that Indonesia would continue to remain peaceful, calm, and harmonious, particularly in the face of global and domestic challenges.
Nasaruddin, who also serves as the Grand Imam of Jakarta’s Istiqlal Mosque, underscored the significance of maintaining unity in diversity — a core principle of Indonesian society. He noted that Easter celebrations should inspire values of faith, hope, and love, which are essential in fostering compassion and resilience among citizens.
Christians across Indonesia have observed a 40-day Lent period leading up to Easter, including key events such as Palm Sunday and the Holy Triduum — comprising Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday — culminating in Easter Sunday celebrations.
Earlier, during a Good Friday service held on April 3, Father Yohanes Deodatus urged young people to remain steadfast in their faith and to develop resilience in the face of global pressures. He called on youth to maintain humility, avoid arrogance, and stay committed to their spiritual path despite challenging times.
The Easter messages from both religious leaders reflect a shared emphasis on faith, unity, and perseverance, reinforcing the importance of collective harmony and spiritual strength in Indonesia’s diverse society.
