Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah Among Silver Award Winners at International Chemistry Olympiad 2026

Bandar Seri Begawan, April 23, 2026 – The Europe Today: Her Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah secured a Silver award alongside 18 students in Round 1 of the 58th Annual Chemistry Olympiad 2026, a prestigious global competition organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The results marked an exceptional achievement for students of Jerudong International School (JIS), where every participant earned an award—five Gold, 11 Silver, and three Bronze—demonstrating both individual excellence and the institution’s strong academic standards.

Gold awards were secured by Joel Jai, Joshua Hung, Lemuel Dhanushan Chinniah, Sherlin Loveline Gnanarathinam, and Shin Khant Lin. Among them, Sherlin Loveline Gnanarathinam ranked in the top two percent globally, highlighting an outstanding level of performance.

In addition to Princess Ameerah, Silver awards were earned by Ampuan Muhammad Shahibul Dzakwan Ampuan Haji Sukarni, Ethan Sumbang, Syed Abdul Rahman Syed Azmal, Nerissa Tan, Rosaline Rahman, Sai Ananya, Sing Ying Shim, Awangku Umar Pengiran Md Fakhrul Amiruddin, Abdul Mateen El-Waliy bin Fakhruddin, and Wan Sin Chong.

Bronze awards were presented to Mohammad Danial Aqil Mohammad Aliza, Muhammad Danish Luqman Saidin Hidayat, and Steve Thomas.

Several award recipients are scholarship students supported by the Ministry of Education Brunei and the Ministry of Religious Affairs Brunei, reflecting national investment in academic excellence.

According to competition data, Gold awards are granted to only 8.5 percent of over 17,000 participants worldwide, while Silver recipients rank within the top 25.4 percent globally—placing the JIS cohort among the world’s top performers.

Executive Principal Nicholas Sheehan praised the students’ achievements, stating, “We are incredibly proud of our students for their outstanding performance in the Chemistry Olympiad. To see every participant achieve an award, and to have students ranked among the very best globally, is a remarkable accomplishment.”

The results underscore JIS’s commitment to academic excellence and highlight Brunei’s growing presence in international scientific competitions.
