Vietnam’s Top Leader Praises Crime-Fighting Achievements, Outlines Security Priorities for Second Half of 2026

Hanoi, June 25, 2026 – The Europe Today: Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President, To Lam, has commended the country’s public security forces for their achievements in combating crime and maintaining social order, while setting key security and law-enforcement priorities for the remainder of 2026.

Addressing a national conference in Hanoi, the Vietnamese leader praised the force’s loyalty to the Party and the people, highlighting its role in implementing major national policies and contributing to political stability and socio-economic development. He noted significant progress in strategic advisory work, a marked decline in crime rates, and positive results in tackling food safety violations, fraud and other offences.

To Lam also recognized the public security force’s contribution to Vietnam’s digital transformation agenda and the successful assumption of new responsibilities under the country’s restructured political system, which has helped improve public service delivery.

Looking ahead, the Vietnamese leader directed security agencies to strengthen the protection of national security, broaden the scope of security operations, enhance operational capabilities and ensure social stability amid evolving domestic and international challenges. He called for greater efforts to build a disciplined, safe, civilized and development-oriented society.

The top leader further urged the force to play a pioneering role in implementing the Politburo’s Resolution 57, which focuses on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. He emphasized the importance of accelerating modernization efforts and maintaining close ties with the public while adapting to emerging security demands.

Vietnam’s leadership has increasingly linked national security objectives with technological advancement and administrative reform as part of its broader strategy to promote sustainable development and strengthen governance in the years ahead.
