Tajikistan

Dushanbe, July 7, 2026 – The Europe Today: The Office of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Republic of Tajikistan on Monday hosted a conference dedicated to the adoption of the United Nations General Assembly resolution titled “International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036).”

According to the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner, the event brought together officials and experts to discuss the significance of Tajikistan’s latest global initiative and its contribution to promoting a culture of peace and international cooperation.

During the conference, participants delivered presentations on a range of topics, including “Tajikistan’s International Initiative in Strengthening the Culture of Peace: A Human Rights Analysis and the Significance of the International Decade 2027–2036,” “The Importance of Tajikistan’s International Peace Initiative,” and “The Legal Significance of the Peace Decade Resolution as an International Instrument for the Republic of Tajikistan.”

Speakers noted that the adoption of the resolution reflects the international community’s high level of confidence in Tajikistan’s constructive and peace-oriented foreign policy. They described the resolution as the result of the country’s consistent diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence on the global stage.

Participants also emphasized that the resolution comes at a time when the international community faces an increasing need to strengthen peace, stability, solidarity, and constructive cooperation. They observed that its significance extends beyond that of a conventional international document, providing an important framework for fostering dialogue among states, building mutual trust, and promoting a renewed culture of international relations.

The conference recalled that on June 25, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon. Entitled “International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036),” the resolution reaffirms the shared commitment of UN member states to advancing peace, dialogue, and intergenerational solidarity as essential foundations for the well-being of future generations.

Participants further noted that the resolution is firmly grounded in the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, particularly the determination to “save succeeding generations from the scourge of war” and the commitment to the peaceful settlement of international disputes. It also recognizes the importance of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace as a global framework for promoting peace and non-violence.

The conference concluded with an exchange of views on the implementation and significance of the International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations, reaffirming support for initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable peace, human rights, and international cooperation.
