Azerbaijan Says U.S.-Armenia Talks on Zangezur Corridor Are Ongoing

Azerbaijan

Baku, July 10, 2026 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov said the United States is participating in discussions concerning the section of the proposed Zangezur Corridor that would pass through Armenian territory, adding that Baku is being regularly updated on the progress of the negotiations.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Bayramov said the talks are being conducted primarily between the United States and Armenia, as the relevant section of the corridor lies within Armenia’s territory.

He noted, however, that both the entry and exit points of the proposed transport corridor are located within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, making the project of significant interest to Baku.

Bayramov said Azerbaijan remains in close contact with its American partners and is regularly informed about developments in the negotiations and the overall progress of the process.

According to the foreign minister, an initial document was signed several months ago between the United States and Armenia, and, based on information shared with Azerbaijan, work on additional documents is currently underway.

He added that discussions surrounding the Zangezur Corridor extend beyond transport links and may also include the development of railway and highway infrastructure, electricity transmission cables, and energy pipelines.

The proposed Zangezur Corridor is regarded as a key regional connectivity project aimed at improving transport and trade links across the South Caucasus while enhancing economic cooperation and regional integration.
