Dushanbe, July 21, 2026 – The Europe Today: Tajikistan and Mongolia signed 12 key cooperation documents following high-level talks between President Emomali Rahmon and President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, marking a significant step toward strengthening bilateral relations across a wide range of sectors.
In the presence of the two Heads of State, the leaders adopted and announced a Joint Statement reaffirming their commitment to expanding and developing friendly relations and comprehensive cooperation between Tajikistan and Mongolia.
The agreements and memorandums signed cover diverse areas of cooperation, including the abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports, international road transport, plant quarantine and protection, education, technical and vocational training, youth and sports, geological research, industrial safety and mining, export promotion, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and agricultural development.
Among the key documents were memorandums of understanding aimed at enhancing collaboration in food safety, education, mineral resources, trade and investment, and strategic environmental initiatives, including glacier protection, pasture restoration, climate resilience, and combating desertification.
The two sides also signed a Roadmap for 2026–2028 to further strengthen cooperation in agriculture and food security between the relevant ministries of both countries.
Following the signing ceremony, President Emomali Rahmon and President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh addressed a joint press conference, where they described the outcomes of the high-level talks as highly promising for broadening and deepening bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders expressed confidence that the newly signed agreements would create fresh opportunities for expanding collaboration in economic, scientific, educational, environmental, and cultural fields while reinforcing the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
The signing ceremony concluded a series of high-level engagements held during President Rahmon’s state visit to Mongolia on July 20–21, which also featured the inaugural meeting of the Tajikistan-Mongolia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Issues, the Tajik-Mongolian Business Forum, and the Days of Tajik Culture in Mongolia, all of which were conducted at a high organizational level and aimed at further enhancing bilateral partnership.
