Zardari

Islamabad, August 19, 2026 — The Europe Today: President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protecting the fundamental rights and dignity of every individual, as guaranteed by the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973, and the international human rights treaties ratified by the country.

In his message on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, observed on Aug. 19, the president said Pakistan joined the international community in honouring the courage, selflessness and dedication of humanitarian workers who served on the frontlines during natural disasters, emergencies and other crises.

President Zardari expressed appreciation for social workers, counsellors, healthcare providers, child protection workers and humanitarian personnel serving across Pakistan, saying their dedication reflected the collective responsibility to assist people in need and ensure that no one was left without support during times of crisis.

He said the swift response of humanitarian workers, their contributions to relief and rehabilitation efforts and their commitment to assisting people in distress, often under difficult and dangerous conditions, deserved the nation’s deepest appreciation.

The president also acknowledged the efforts of humanitarian workers who, alongside civil society, security forces and ordinary citizens, remained prepared to respond whenever communities faced emergencies.

He said their timely assistance and compassion provided essential support to vulnerable people during difficult circumstances.

President Zardari emphasized that humanitarian workers played an important role in helping communities withstand and recover from crises. Their work, he said, reflected the fundamental values of compassion, solidarity and respect for human dignity.

He further observed that through organized and professional assistance, humanitarian workers helped strengthen support systems for people affected by violence, displacement, hunger, poverty, disability and marginalization.

The president reiterated that protecting human dignity and ensuring support for vulnerable segments of society remained a shared responsibility and called for continued efforts to strengthen humanitarian assistance and support mechanisms across the country.
