Jakarta, September 17, 2026 – The Europe Today: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has said that his government is prioritizing fundamental issues aimed at strengthening the country’s self-reliance, with a particular focus on food and energy security, poverty alleviation and employment generation.

Speaking during the “Presiden Prabowo Menjawab” (President Prabowo Answers) programme, released by the Government Communications Agency on Wednesday, President Prabowo said ensuring adequate food supplies remained one of the government’s foremost priorities.

He said the government was also working to strengthen national energy security by developing palm oil-based biofuels, including a 50 percent biodiesel blend (B50), while expanding large-scale solar power generation.

The president highlighted efforts to address child hunger, stunting, absolute poverty and extreme poverty, saying these issues required immediate attention.

He added that the government was pursuing budget efficiency and measures to prevent leakage of state funds, while directing available resources toward productive sectors capable of generating foreign exchange and creating employment.

President Prabowo also emphasized the importance of downstream processing to increase the added value of Indonesia’s natural resources. Several downstream projects have already been launched, which the government expects to strengthen domestic industry and generate additional employment opportunities.

At the community level, the government is developing Red and White Village Cooperatives and Red and White Fishing Villages to strengthen village-level supply chains, raise local incomes and reduce logistics costs.

According to the president, integrating these initiatives would help ensure market access for fishermen while contributing to the availability of protein for the population.

In the education sector, the government is continuing programmes focused on improving human resources, including digitalization of learning, school renovations and teacher training.

President Prabowo said these measures formed part of broader efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s economic and social foundations and prepare the country to face future challenges.
