Shanghai, December 24, 2023, The Europe Today: On Sunday, a significant milestone in China’s maritime industry was marked as the country’s inaugural domestically-built large cruise ship, the “Adora Magic City,” commenced its trial operation. Departing from the bustling port of Shanghai, the ship embarked on its journey with a distinguished group of invited guests and a multinational crew of nearly 1,300 members.
The departure took place at noon from the Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal, and the vessel is scheduled to conclude its trial voyage, returning to the terminal on Monday.
This marks a notable stride in China’s pursuit of becoming a key player in the global cruise industry, showcasing its capacity to develop and operate large-scale cruise ships on par with international standards.
Following the current trial operation, meticulous preparations are underway for the forthcoming commercial maiden voyage to Northeast Asia scheduled for January 1, 2024.
The Adora Magic City, an engineering marvel crafted by the CSSC Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., boasts impressive specifications. With a length of 323.6 meters and a gross weight of 135,500 tonnes, the cruise ship offers accommodation for up to 5,246 passengers distributed across 2,125 guest rooms.
Spanning 16 floors, it encompasses an expansive 40,000 square meters of public living and recreation space, providing passengers with a luxurious and immersive cruise experience.
As the vessel undergoes trial operations, its design and capabilities stand poised to elevate China’s presence in the global cruise industry.
