Czech fourth seed Krejcikova battled fiercely against Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya, ultimately falling 7-5, 3-6, 7-5.
Meanwhile, Brazil’s Haddad Maia encountered a similar fate, defeated 6-3, 6-4 by another Russian, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Kalinskaya praised Krejcikova’s resilience, acknowledging the complexity of the match. Pavlyuchenkova, a finalist at the 2021 French Open, showcased her prowess with 29 winners against Haddad Maia.
